As long term developers on other platforms, Unity and developing games represents a big change in paradigm. Most people seem to be split into one of two camps when they start out in games:
I have to do everything myself, otherwise it’s cheating and a waste of money for unknown quality
…or something like:
I’m going to develop this game fast by using Assets from the store
The reality ends up being somewhere in the middle.
The truth is, if you want to make something non-trivial, you’re going to need to write large chunks of custom code yourself, or settle for doing it the way someone else imagined it.
If you want to use Assets, you’re still going to spend a lot of time learning how to use them and integrate them together (and it can be difficult at times)
If things pan out, this site will be full of our mistakes and articles to help you choose your assets wisely. Welcome and thanks for reading our blog!
